The Transnational Project Meeting of our project named “Sustainable Agriculture and Life & Living Soil”, which is being carried out under the coordination of our Provincial Directorate within the scope of Erasmus+ Vocational Education Strategic Partnership projects supported by the Turkish National Agency, was our project partner in Bari, Italy. LEGACOOP was hosted by Puglia between 04-08 July 2022. To the meeting; a total of 17 people participated, 9 people from Turkey, 2 people from Italy, 2 people from Belgium, 2 people from Germany and 2 people from Spain.
Carmelo Rollo, Chairman of the Board of Legacoop Puglia Cooperative, made the opening speech of the meeting. Rollo; cooperative activities talked about the priority of sustainable agriculture for Mediterranean Countries in the process of climate change and the importance of working in cooperation in such projects within the understanding of cooperatives.
At the meeting, some of the studies and good practices related to sustainable agriculture by our project partners; ‘Permanent Ground Cover Crop-Hay Management in Sustainable Agriculture’, ‘Minimum Tillage Method-Lane Tillage’, ‘Composting and Application of Innovative Technologies in Turning Waste into Resources for Farmers and Companies’, ‘Product Alteration in Crop Production’, ‘Minimum Tillage’ Presentations were made on ‘The Benefits of Applications’, ‘The Use of Ground Cover Plants in Perennial Plants’.
Additionally, a meeting and practical training was held in CIHEAM Bari in order to learn good practices in Italian agriculture. At CIHEAM Bari; Conservative and Organic Agriculture, Soil Fertility Management, Compost production and use from waste, Sustainable Water and Land Management in Agriculture, Innovative Approaches in Mediterranean Fruit and Vegetable Products in IPM (Integrated Pest Management), within the scope of IPM; The introduction of parasitoid and predatory insects produced for biological control and training on biological control were carried out.
In the Puglia region of Italy; Organic Agriculture, Compost production and use, Integrated Pest Management, Biological Control within the scope of IPM has been determined to be the prominent issues in the field of sustainable agriculture. The fact that our host partner and partner institutions have direct national and international successful studies in the field related to our project has contributed greatly to our project and will continue to do so.
With our project, it is aimed to create a cooperation network between countries that have successful studies on sustainable agriculture, to ensure the exchange and dissemination of good practices by sharing new ideas and methods, to develop the institutional capacities of all partners by operating at a transnational level, to contribute to the professional development of technical personnel and farmers in the sector.
