Selçuk University, Konya Plain Project (KOP) Regional Development Administration, Konya Karaman Agricultural Cooperatives within the scope of Erasmus+, KA2 Vocational Education Strategic Partnership project prepared under the coordination of our Konya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs- EU Education and Youth Programs Center, Turkish National Agency. LTT activity started in Konya in the Sustainable Agriculture and Living-Living Soils Project in which the Regional Union and Legacoop Cooperative from Italy, European Conservative Agriculture Federation from Belgium, University of Cordoba from Spain and DEULA-Nienburg GmbH from Germany are involved.
Within the scope of Erasmus+, Vocational Education Strategic Partnership project prepared and carried out under the coordination of Konya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, a delegation from Germany, Italy, Belgium and Spain, the project’s foreign partners, made training and field visits for a week in Konya for the Turkey activity of the project.
Selcuk University Faculty of Agriculture from Turkey, KOP Regional Development Administration, Konya Karaman Agricultural Cooperatives Regional Union and Legacoop Cooperative from Italy, European Federation of Conservative Agriculture from Belgium, University of Cordoba from Spain and DEULA-Nienburg GmbH from Germany. In the Sustainable Agriculture and Living & Living Soils Project, in which the project took place, the participants were informed about the good practices for sustainable agriculture applied in our province. In addition, Konya was promoted with cultural activities.

“SUSTAINABILITY OF AGRICULTURE IS VERY IMPORTANT”
Making the opening speech of the meeting, Konya Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Ali ERGİN, pointed out that agriculture does not only meet its food needs, and said, “As you all know, the world population meets its basic nutritional needs from the soil. Agriculture, which, in its simplest definition, is the “processing of the soil”, has grown over the years in this sense. Agriculture is the most basic source of food for the growing world population. Agriculture does not only meet our food needs. Agriculture also provides the welfare of farmers and society; the management of various physical and biological environments such as soil health, water resources and bio-diversity; the welfare of this workforce with a large workforce; It covers the whole of economic and ecological systems. Therefore, sustainability of agriculture is of great importance. As a result of intensive agricultural production, serious deterioration in the soil structure has started in agricultural lands in recent years. In addition, climate change and its effects are an important global problem that is being observed more frequently today. is in. Agriculture is the sector most affected by climate change. Especially in countries located in the Mediterranean basin, including Italy, Spain and Turkey, the effects of climate change on agricultural production are much greater. In the report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), there were warnings that the Mediterranean could be the center of climate change in the future. In these warnings; stresses that the predicted increase in temperature will put more pressure on areas such as agriculture and animal husbandry, fisheries and tourism in the region. Especially in recent years, natural disasters such as floods, fires and droughts on a global scale threaten the entire ecosystem and human life; There is an increase in the incidence, impact and duration of these disasters. Climate change is no longer an environmental problem, but a direct problem of ensuring the sustainability of human life. In order to ensure the living standards of future generations, it is now inevitable to take the necessary measures against climate change in our agricultural production in national and international cooperation.
“OUR WORK ON SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE WILL CONTINUE”
As Konya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, we will continue to work towards the adaptation of Konya agriculture to climate change and protective and sustainable agriculture.
Ülkü GÜNHAN, one of the Project Coordinators, who gave information about the purpose of the project, said, “To create a cooperation network between the countries that have successful studies on sustainable agriculture with our project, to exchange new ideas and methods and to ensure the exchange and dissemination of good practices. We aim to contribute to the professional development of technical personnel and farmers.
Project Coordinator Fatih KÖSE gave the following information about the expected results of the project; “Performing agricultural production with sustainable protective agriculture techniques, protecting natural resources such as soil, water, air and environment, reducing the effects of the causes and consequences of climate change, developing knowledge and skills about the techniques of reducing the risks involved in agricultural activities, creating environmental awareness, increasing profitability and efficiency in agricultural production. Increasing food security and ensuring food safety are the expected results of our project in the short and long term” he said.
Within the scope of Konya LTT activities, field visits were made for the protective agriculture works implemented in Sarayönü district by the Sarayönü District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the Protective Agriculture Association. In Gözlü Agricultural Enterprise Directorate, studies to prevent wind erosion in soils and wind shielding studies were examined. Information about Protective Agricultural Machinery was given in Turkish Agricultural Machinery Association (TARMAKBIR), Agriönal Agricultural Machinery and Şakalak Agricultural Machinery companies, and the machines were examined. Sustainable farm model was shown in Asia Tulip Farm and information was given about farm activities. Inspections were made in the Strip Till tillage machine and demonstration fields of the Karatay District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. Field visits were made to the Karapınar District Governorate, Karapınar Chamber of Agriculture, Konya Soil, Water and Combating Desertification Research Institute in Karapınar district, and successful studies in the fight against soil erosion were explained. In addition, as a cultural activity, a visit to Butterfly Valley, Sille town, Mevlana was made, Whirling Dervish show was held.
